Jared Kosky CT Insurance Department Deputy Commissioner

Jared Kosky was appointed as the Connecticut Insurance Department’s (CID) Deputy Commissioner in 2022 and also serves as CID’s Chief Operating Officer.  Jared joined CID in 2016 and prior to his appointment as Deputy Commissioner he was CID’s General Counsel. He is responsible for leading the operations and overseeing policy development of CID and serves as a resource with respect to the many facets and complexities of regulating the insurance industry and advocating for legislation to improve the effectiveness of CID in achieving its mission of consumer protection.

 

A graduate of the University of Connecticut and Quinnipiac University School of Law, Jared is a lifelong Connecticut resident.  Prior to working at the Insurance Department, he served as counsel with the Connecticut Office of State Ethics and prior to entering state service he was an attorney for a Hartford based law firm focusing on civil litigation.

Kristin Campanelli is the Department’s Assistant Deputy Commissioner for Government Relations and the Chief Inclusion Officer. Kristin previously worked for the Department as an attorney with a background in health insurance regulation and public policy. Previously Kristin served as General Counsel to the Office of Workforce Strategy and as Associate General Counsel for Governor Lamont handling the areas of banking, aging, labor, social services, children, workforce, insurance, and revenue.

Kristin earned her law degree from Syracuse University College of Law and her undergraduate degree and a partial graduate degree from the Maxwell School at Syracuse University. She also attends the UConn LLM program specializing in insurance law and received her Diversity, Equity and Inclusion certificate from Cornell University's eCornell program. Kristin previously served two terms on her town's board of education and one term elected to her town council. She is currently serving on the board of directors for the Hartford Gay and Lesbian Health Collective.

Michael Kalen is CEO of Covr Financial Technologies, a VC-backed embedded insurance platform for financial institutions.

Prior to joining Covr, Mike was a portfolio company CEO and executive advisor at Aquiline Capital and Aquiline Technology Growth. He has successfully led organizations to growth and profitability including Futurity First, Hartford Life and Prudential Financial in life insurance, annuity and wealth management.

Mike was a board member of NassauRe Life and Annuity and has extensive M&A and capital raising experience. Mike is on the Dean’s Advisory Board of the University of Delaware and Adjunct Professor at UCONN.

Mike has a Master of Business Administration in Finance from Columbia University and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration from the University of Delaware. He holds several industry designations, including CLU, ChFC and series 7/9/10/26 registrations.

Nick is responsible for consulting with clients on their Cyber, Professional Liability, Technology and Media risks by identifying exposures, managing insurance market relationships, strategizing, and creating tailored risk transfer solutions, as well as executing on policy terms, conditions, and servicing.

Nick’s book of business is focused on complex risks related to Private Equity, Life Sciences, Healthcare, Food and Food Science, Technology Software, Financial Services, Manufacturing, Transportation, and Retail. His expertise for these industries includes coverage gap analysis and risk transfer structuring, contract review and analysis, and information security for general technology and infrastructure (compute, storage, networking) as well as operational technology (ICS/SCADA).


Nick began his career in management consulting, spending 6 years in holistic technology focused advisory for the financial services, technology software, services, and communications, health and
human services, construction, and manufacturing and distribution industry sectors; specializing in cybersecurity, systems engineering and infrastructure, solutions architecture, due diligence, and transaction advisory before entering the insurance industry in 2017. Prior to joining Aon in 2021, Nick worked for other insurance brokerages including JLT, and subsequently Marsh McLennan through its acquisition of JLT. At both JLT and MMC he focused on special projects, M&A, and program
leadership in the specialty insurance and reinsurance product line portfolios primarily supporting specialty risk practice areas.

Jamie Warner leads Data Science for Life Solutions at Lincoln Financial, where she seeks to revolutionize the way heavily regulated industries understand and adopt data science. She’s led the creation of large scale pricing and reserving models for insurers, and teaches courses to empower stakeholders across the insurance industry by helping them develop a deep understanding of advanced terminology and concepts to facilitate collaboration with data scientists in developing advanced analytical solutions.


Jamie joined Lincoln through their acquisition of Liberty Mutual’s Group Benefits business. At Liberty she served in a range of Data Science and analytics-focused roles throughout her tenure including Commercial Auto, Worker’s Compensation, No-Fault Auto, and Long/Short Term Disability. Prior to Liberty, Jamie led consulting projects for technology vendors, providing survey design and data expertise, including modeling for global tech adoption forecasts, competitive analysis, competitive product assessments and technology adoption profiles at Forrester Research.


She holds an M.S. in Business Analytics from Bentley University, a B.A. in Mathematics & Economics from Colby College, and earned CPCU and AIDA designations. Jamie is passionate about staying on top of new trends while educating and empowering analytics professionals, so she teaches as an adjunct professor for Northeastern University’s Master’s of Analytics program and as an instructor for the AIDA coursework for the Institutes. She is currently the president for the Boston Chapter of the CPCU and has served on the board of directors since 2015.

Joan Woodward is President of The Travelers Institute and Executive Vice President of Public Policy for The Travelers Companies, Inc.  She is a member of the company’s Executive Management Committee and Operating Committee, and serves on the Risk Committee and the Travelers Foundation Board.

 

Woodward joined Travelers in 2008 from Goldman, Sachs & Co., where she was the founding Executive Director of the company’s Global Markets Institute. During her ten years at Goldman Sachs, she also established the Washington Research operation for the firm, serving as its first Vice President and Director of Washington Research within the Global Investment and Economic Research division. Prior to joining Goldman Sachs, Woodward worked on Capitol Hill for 12 years, serving as Deputy Chief of Staff for the U.S. Senate Finance Committee, as well as Chief Economist for the Senate Governmental Affairs Committee, and the U.S. House of Representatives Budget Committee. 

 

She currently serves on the Board of Directors of the United States Chamber of Commerce Foundation, is Vice Chairman of the Board of the RAND Institute for Civil Justice, and a member of the President’s National Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) Export Council.  She is engaged with numerous community and charitable groups and was a recipient of the 2009-2010 David Rockefeller Fellowship. Woodward holds bachelor’s degrees in economics and political science and a master’s degree in public administration all from American University.
